Growing up we used to have a dog and a cat. A few years ago we lost our dog due to old age. Unfortunately, it was too much for my mom and she refused to have a new puppy.
Despite that, we got her a new cat- Ginger! You may know it from our Cat Gnome – Ginger inspired. After the release of the cat gnome, many of you asked for a puppy gnome.
Furthermore, the first theme of this year’s Gnome Along is – animals. So here is the puppy gnome we created for you.
How to crochet a dog gnome?
First, we will start with the body. In this pattern, we will crochet from top to bottom. Meaning that we will start from the hat and continue toward the body.
Once the body is done, we will crochet the additional parts such as feet, hands, ears, and muzzle.
When we have all the parts ready we will assemble our gnome.
How to customize your crochet dog gnome?
As you know there are plenty of different dog types. Moreover, you can crochet your puppy by just changing colors.
For example, you can make a Dalmatian puppy using white and black.
Why not make a dog with standing ears. I suggest you use the ears of our cat gnome.

Crochet Dog Gnome- Free pattern
Overall pattern notes
The pattern is written in US crochet terms.
Throughout the pattern, we will work in continuous rounds. Don’t join your rounds.
Use a stitch marker to mark your first stitch. It will prevent any miscount.
If you use a different weight of yarn, keep in mind that your gnome will turn out bigger or smaller.
If you are crocheting loosely, use a smaller hook so your work will be tighter and the stuffing won’t be visible.
When stuffing the body- stuff it well, so it will stay in shape, but don’t overdo it.
Some of the photos are from previous projects. Pay attention to the colors written.

How to Assembly your dog gnome?
- Take the nose and sew it under the brim. Place it right on top of the end of the cream belly part. See pic. below.
- Take the feet and sew them on both sides of the cream belly part.
- Attach the hands on both sides of the nose. Leave 6 sts between them.
Take the ears and place them on round 19. Leave 5-6 stitches between them. Attach them facing upwards, then bend them towards the side and secure it with a tapestry needle. Attach them only on the tip.
You can also attach the ears in two more ways. See pics below.
Take the tail and sew it on the back bottom of your gnome. I placed mine facing the side. You can also place it pointing upward.
