I know it maybe already old news but, in my opinion, the likely creation of the Olympic esports Games by the IOC represents a significant development for both the sports industry and International Federations. The UCI has already demonstrated how virtual sports can contribute to sport development through partnerships with platforms like Zwift, and MyWoosh is set to host the next three UCI Cycling esports World Championships. Additionally, the collaboration between the IOC and Kinomap, providing fans with connected sports challenges on Paris 2024 courses, serves as another illustration of these synergies.I remember during my time at Zwift that the founders vision was to create a discipline with a view that it would become Olympic Sport at the Los Angeles 2028 Games...it sounded ambitious at the time but I think we are getting very close...Developing new versions of a game that can be taylored to appeal new segments of your fan base is a great way to develop a sport (the transformative impact of Sevens Rugby and T20 on Rugby and Cricket serve as compelling examples). Various International Federations, including those governing rowing, canoeing, triathlon, and others, have recognised the potential in this domain. How do they impact physical and mental health, and what strategies can we employ to maximise their advantages while mitigating potential risks?Obstacle course racing: conquering challengesObstacle course racing involves participants navigating a series of physical challenges, including climbing, crawling, and jumping over natural and man-made obstacles. Events like Tough Mudder and Spartan Race attract a various demographic of participants in search of a full-body workout that also blends physical endurance, mental resilience and community spirit.Some of the important thing advantages of obstacle course racing are the sense of accomplishment, camaraderie and community it fosters. A few years back there was only 1-2 pioneers, now there are super strong use cases and it feels like there is a market now with competitors.
